The Lakeside Women’s Club (LWC) welcomes all Lakeside guests and residents to participate in the LWC 92nd season’s activities at Green Gables, our clubhouse at 161 Walnut Ave., adjacent to the new basketball courts.
All women, men and children are invited to visit the LWC lending library to check out books, puzzles or pur¬chase used books. The library is open 1-4 p.m. Monday-Wednesday and Friday, and 9-11 a.m. Saturday. There’s also a small thrift shop to purchase “treasures” and view LWC’s service project of hand-knitted blankets.
If you’re spending a few days, a week or the whole summer in Lakeside, partici¬pate in activities, including Monday book discussions (with advanced reading of the book), Tuesday 1:30 p.m. meetings/programs on various topics, and Friday 1:30 p.m. book reviews, plus games of bridge and Mah Jongg twice weekly. Attend any activity at no charge. For details, check each day’s schedule of events in the Lakesider.
There are also children’s activities at Green Gables, including Monday morning programs, Girls’ Club on select Thursdays, and story time on Saturday mornings. For details, check each day’s schedule of events in the Lakesider.
If you’re not a LWC member, please consider joining this summer. Dues are $20. You’ll meet new and longtime Lakesiders who enjoy the friendship of women sharing interests in a variety of activities and topics. All are welcome.
If you’ve never visited Green Gables, take a tour of the main floor with our resident hostess and view how a 135-year old former boarding house serves as a busy clubhouse for 200 members while retaining its historic charm. There are four bedrooms upstairs that are rented to women age 18+ for overnight accommodations. Ask about bedroom rental and availability for the summer.
Mark your calendar for the 63rd Annual LWC Tour of Cottages from 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Thursday, July 25. Featuring seven cottages, tickets for the tour are $12. A special Tour of Cottages Pass to enter the Lakeside grounds is available for an additional $12 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., if a Daily or Season Chautauqua Pass has not already been purchased. Parking is included. The special pass does not include admission to the Hoover Auditorium show that evening or the Grindley Aquatic & Wellness Campus Pool.
